4 Questions Real Estate Agents Should Ask Themselves

Bonus CommissionsInstead of pretending like you’re going to make a a single massive change to some area of your life on January 1, 2011, why not examine your life right now and plan the improvements you want to make in the coming year? New Year’s Eve resolutions are a crock anyway. Every March we read surveys about how 99.99% (or some other hideously high number) of people have already fallen off the wagon. Forget about personal improvement for the moment and ask yourself the following business questions for 2011.

How many deals do you want? Don’t namby pamby your way around this one and say, “Well, as long as there’s enough to pay the rent and put food on the table, I’ll be happy.” That’s a load of horse manure. You know it. We know it. Figure out a specific number of closes and write it down. And don’t sell yourself short. Make it a worthy goal.

How much money to you want to make? Refer to question one. There’s a number in your heart of hearts that you want to earn. Say it out loud and then write it down. Don’t wimp out because the economy is rotten. You’re a real estate agent, damn it. You control your own destiny. Now get out there and start controlling.

How many vacations will you take and where? This is a biggie too. Working every single business day and most weekends all year is not an option. That’s not living, no matter how much money kachings in your bank account. There’s a place on your bucket list that you’ve been dying to travel to. Go there before you do die.

Which business areas need improvement? If you’re doing absolutely every single thing correctly in regard to your business, then you have no need to ask yourself any of these questions at all. If, on the other hand, there are areas you fall short in, figure them out and write them down. Chances are, you already know what’s spilling through the cracks. This is your chance to take the responsibility for fixing them.

Last but not least, what are you going to do about the state of your health this year so you’ll be around to ask these annual questions many times over in the future? Very few of us can claim perfection in both diet and exercise. Address these sorts of issues from the positive side. Small changes create magnified health improvements as time goes on. Need one to start with? Eliminate soft drinks and other sugary beverages.
